Yesterday, the Searchlight Institute published some polling they conducted on Americans' attitudes towards immigration enforcement, as well as a comprehensive set of reform recommendations.
It will surprise no one to hear that Searchlight's stance on immigration is not particularly close to what you'll find published on that topic at Liberal Currents. I'm not going to provide an alternative; we're working on that for The Reconstruction Papers and we'll likely continue working on it for essays in the future. Instead, I'd like to step back a bit and talk about how we should think about the political landscape for immigration reform in 2029, should we gain a Democratic trifecta worth its salt.
