In May, the administration announced that it would be engaging in a "full-scale war on fraud," which in practice means doing things like pausing $1 billion in medicaid payments to California, for example. Of course months before this announcement they invaded Minneapolis on the pretext of rooting out daycare fraud. What thousands of DHS agents kidnapping people in broad daylight has to do with rooting out daycare fraud, I could not tell you, except to say that deportation, along with tariffs, is the Trump administration's hammer, constantly in search of nails to hit.
Using claims of fraud as a pretext for political persecution is bad enough in and of itself. But this is all occurring under an administration that has gutted the machinery of anti-fraud enforcement and pilfered the country on an unprecedented scale.
I think it is important for us to keep the Trump administration's corruption front and center.
