Since Trump returned to office, America has entered a period of full blown authoritarian consolidation. This does not mean it will be successful, or that there is no coming back from it. But when masked agents of the state roam the streets kidnapping people with impunity, when the president's party is openly making it harder for a majority of voters to control a majority of seats in the House, and when "pay to play" has been made the governing principle of the executive branch, the nature of immediate crisis becomes undeniable.

At Liberal Currents we are committed to fighting not just today's war, but tomorrow's. We must defeat Donald Trump and his successors politically to have any hope. But we must also give serious consideration to what sort of future we hope to build.
