The Reconstruction Papers Print-on-Demand Option Is Now Available to International Readers

The Reconstruction Papers is first and foremost a vision for how to fix what is broken in America specifically. But that doesn't mean it has nothing to offer readers in other countries.

Our printer for the main run is based locally, and their shipping partners only provide their services for US addresses. So I had planned to offer a print-on-demand option for international readers.

That option is now available.

US readers are able to order by this method as well, as it might end up being slightly quicker than the other way. It is, however, more expensive:

Per-unit costs are going to be higher with print-on-demand, and The Reconstruction Papers is a hefty volume at 180 pages plus covers.

American readers who do want a print copy but at a lower price, and are willing to wait a bit longer, are encouraged to pre-order from our printer. Paid subscribers can also download the PDF today, and everyone else will be able to do the same this Monday.

I have learned more about printing these past few months than I knew there was to learn. Dame Magazine's Founder and Publisher, Jennifer Reitman, was very helpful in offering the wisdom of her greater experience in print, allowing us to ensure we would get a high quality product.

The main difference between the two ways of ordering the print copy, besides the fact that the higher volume print order of one brings the per-unit cost down, is that print-on-demand utilizes digital printing, whereas the larger order will be utilizing offset printing. Here's a short explainer of the difference, which again, at the beginning of this year I was entirely unaware of, other than having the vague impression that print-on-demand tended to be lower quality than high volume printing.

Digital printing has apparently become quite good, however, and much of the perceived difference in quality has more to do with the parameters (paper weight, binding type, etc) that Jennifer guided me through than the printing method. So if you feel comfortable with the price, or live outside the US, please don't hesitate to order the print-on-demand option. I used identical specifications for both printing methods.
