Among the difficult demands the current crisis places upon us is to balance a realism about just how bad things are, and how bad they will get even in the best of circumstances over the next two years, with hope for the future.
That hope cannot be vague and emotional in nature. It must be grounded in that very understanding of just how much damage will have accumulated to our institutions and society before there is a chance to rebuild.
And it must be tied to specifics. The Reconstruction Papers contributes a great deal of specifics, aimed precisely at providing people the tools to turns hopes into realities.
